Rev. Dr. Gerry Tyer, Stated Clerk of Grace Presbytery, will lead a training session for clerks (and moderators) of Session during a 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm breakout group at the February 22 stated meeting at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas.

Participants may register for the whole presbytery meeting or attend just the training session (please email Gloria Beard if you want to attend only the breakout group). If you do not have our Manual for Clerks of Session, also email Gloria.

Topics covered will include:

What are the key duties of the Clerk of Session?

What should (and shouldn’t) be in session minutes?

Who creates the agenda for session meeting?

The 10 most asked questions about the Book of Order

What are the most frequent parliamentary mistakes made at session meetings?

How should permanent records be stored? (Spoiler alert: not in a used mayonnaise jar…)

Why are the annual statistical reports so complicated?

Participants will also play “Stump the Stated Clerk.” If Gerry doesn’t know the answer to your polity question, you will get a prize.

Stated meeting details, including online registration, can be found here.
