Grace Presbytery is seeking applications for the position of Stated Clerk.

This position is an elected office of Grace Presbytery (“the presbytery”). Election is by the presbytery on an annual basis, ordinarily at the last meeting of the year, for the ensuing year, upon nomination by the Grace Presbytery Council.

The Stated Clerk has ecclesiastical responsibility to provide parliamentary and consulting support to the presbytery and the Grace Presbytery Council, to act as constitutional advisor with regard to the Presbyterian Church (USA) Constitution, and to fulfill all duties of the Stated Clerk in the Book of Order.

The Stated Clerk shall record the transactions of the council, keep its rolls of membership and attendance, preserve its records carefully, and furnish extracts from them when required by another council of the church. (Book of Order, G-3.0104)

The Stated Clerk position serves with existing presbytery staff as a colleague in staff meetings and in the functioning of the presbytery office and ministry. The Search Committee expects the applicant to have knowledge of the Presbyterian Church (USA), its history, theology and polity, and the ability to work with teaching elders, educators, ruling elders, members of congregations, and the staff of the presbytery.

We seek a Stated Clerk who has the ability and willingness to preach and to interpret the presbytery as appropriate and as requested.

The Stated Clerk will have an office at the Presbyterian Mission Center, and reasonable staff support for the work of the Stated Clerk. The Stated Clerk is expected to work on average 20 hours per week, and the presbytery will provide a generous compensation package with benefits, which shall be established annually by the Grace Presbytery Council.

A ruling elder or teaching elder may apply by submitting a resume or Personal Information Form via email.

All applications are due by Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

Grace Presbytery welcomes diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
