Presbytery Meeting – First Presbyterian Church of Killeen dissolved; Presbytery to explore opportunities for a reformed presence

by Rob Allen
Director of Communications

Grace Presbytery approved the recommendation from the Administrative Commission for First Presbyterian Church of Killeen to dissolve the congregation effective April 5, 2015. The presbytery will explore opportunities for shared ministry in Killeen.

This was the second administrative commission for the congregation since 2008, both of which, were asked to help the congregation with internal conflict.

After months of meetings with the session and the congregation, the administrative commission concluded that the conflict was too systemic to move the congregation forward.

“The Administrative Commission believes that a reformed congregation is necessary in the Killeen/Fort Hood area,” said the administrative commission’s written report, “Ministry and mission opportunities seem to be present in Killeen/Fort Hood and surrounding area and the Administrative Commission recommends that those opportunities be explored in hopes that a reformed congregation can be present in Killeen in the future.”
