Grace Presbytery welcomes Rev. Chris Lee
Rev. Christopher Lee originally hails from Florida. Following graduation from Johnson C. Smith University in North Carolina, he earned his Master of Divinity at Union Presbyterian Seminary.
He also holds a Certificate in Executive Leadership from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.
Chris is married to his college sweetheart, Brandy, and has two daughters – Erin and Jordyn. He was ordained in 2013.
Chris says he didn’t grow up in the church – only regularly attending Christmas and Easter worships with his grandparents in North Carolina. It was during his time as a college athlete that a new door opened.
“I met someone who told me about Jesus, and I couldn’t help but listen. It was the testimony of an ex-convict who was a talented athlete. His story spoke to me and that night in my dorm room, I prayed to God, for the first time in my own words.”
Campus ministry was followed by Bible studies and weekly chapel services. Then came the call to ministry, seminary, and an Associate Pastor position at Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte for five years. Chris says his new call to Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church is one he didn’t see coming, “but I am so glad it came!”
“I believe that God has called me to live out a ministry that seeks to engage as Christ did. Unafraid and unashamed in welcoming strangers, engaging in theological discourse, and embracing the tough questions that culture, life and Scripture present.”
Rev. Lee’s installation service is scheduled for Sunday, September 23 at 4:00 p.m. at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church in Richardson.
